What are Eyelash Extensions?

Eyelash extensions are semi-permanent enhancements to your natural lashes. The extensions that are applied to each one of your natural lashes give them a fuller, thicker, longer, & fluffier look.

Why are my eyes closed during the application process?

The bonding glue used to apply lash extensions is extremely strong. The fumes alone from the glue could potentially cause your eyes to water or experience a burning sensation. As I am working very close to your lash line above and below your eye, it is important to be careful and minimize any tension. Relaxing your eyes and keeping them closed is essential to the application process.

I wear contacts and/or eyeglasses. Am I still able to wear lash extensions?

Of course you are still able to wear lash extensions. Prior to the application process, please remove the contacts. Let me know that you wear eyeglasses so that we can make sure the length is not too long where the extensions could potentially touch/push against the eyeglasses.

Why does it take so long when the extensions are being applied?

A full set of lash extensions generally take about 2 full hours to be applied. Time varies based on the amount of natural lashes the client have and the type of set the client decide to get. On average, we have about 90+ lashes on each eye (that’s not even including the bottom lash line). Since the extensions are applied to each one of your natural lashes then it is important to be precise.

Will the extensions damage my natural lashes?

No! If applied and removed properly, lash extensions should not damage or pull out your natural lashes.

How long do the extensions last?

Our lashes have a shedding cycle. Remember, it is a form of hair. Since lashes are guaranteed to shed with the natural shedding cycle, they last about 2-3 weeks (or longer). After that 2-3 weeks, you will be due for your lash fill-in.

How do I remove my lash extensions?

Please, do not pick or pull at your lash extensions as this will cause damage or loss of your natural lashes. It is important to get the extensions professionally removed. Lash extensions can be professionally removed with a specific solution, gel or cream remover. The remover weakens the bonding glue that is used when the extensions are applied. Once that bonding glue is weakened, the extensions easily slide right off of your natural lashes.

How do I care for my lash extensions?

Lash maintenance is so vital when getting lash extensions. Brushing your lash extensions when needed to assist with any twists or turns and washing them regularly to remove dirt, makeup, build up and bacteria will help with maintaining a great set of lash extensions. The key is to be gentle and delicate when caring for them.

What aftercare tips do you recommend?

There are several different after care tips that are required to sustain your extensions, here are some that we recommend:
•Avoid water directly touching your extensions the first 24-48 hours after they are applied.
•Avoid extreme heat temperatures getting in contact with your extensions (when cooking at the stove/oven, sitting under the dryer at the hair salon, blow drying hair, etc).•Try really hard NOT to sleep directly on your extensions. I know that one of the most comfortable sleeping positions is sleeping on your face but we have to adjust that when wearing lash extensions. Also, I suggest getting a silk pillowcase so that the fabric from the pillow does not pull at the extensions when sleeping.
•Gently brush lashes with mascara wand as needed to tame; assist with twists and turns.
•Using a tear-free/oil-free soap (lash shampoo), clean lashes as needed to remove any dirt, makeup, or bacteria. Allowing lash extensions to remain dirty is both unsafe and unsanitary. It also weakens the bonding glue and causes lashes to shed prematurely which interferes with lash retention.
•Do not apply makeup, mascara, or eyeliner directly to lash extensions. The extensions themselves are already enhancing your lashes, applying more product or tension only weakens your lash extensions.
•Book lash fills every 2-3 weeks to maintain a full set

What is a lash fill-in? Why do I need it?

A lash fill is replacing the extensions that have shed off overtime. During the lash fill, lashes will be removed that have grown out and are nearly about to shed off. Most times, clients experience twists and turns that may be bothersome as well so those lash extensions will all be removed and replaced. A lash fill-in is required to maintain a full set of lash extensions. If you want to keep the fluffy look and not have any gaps between your extensions then this is necessary! If you want to avoid paying the full set price then the lash fill-in is a must for you!

Do you teach lash extension classes?

No. I do not currently teach any classes. I may teach classes in the near future. In the mean time, I have other great lash technicians that I can refer you to, to get certified. Reach out to me for any further questions concerning this!

Do you work over other lash technician’s work?

Unfortunately, no. If you have lash extensions remaining from a previous set done by someone else, you should book a lash removal along with your full set service.
